The Ark began in 1977 as a licensed, non-profit, preschool for 2 1/2 - 6-year-old boys and girls. It is provided as a community ministry by Bethany Lutheran Church, 202 South 11th Street, in Escanaba, MI to all children regardless of their religious affiliation.

The Ark offers three sessions to best serve the needs of the children. The Monday-Wednesday a.m. classes are from 9:30 -11:30 a.m. and are structured around our 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 year olds. Our Tuesday-Thursday a.m. classes are designed for children turning 4 during the fall as well as older children whose parents request a.m. classes. Our afternoon sessions include two, three day-a-week classes and one, four day-a-week class. These classes are for children who are already five when school starts or will turn five before August. The classes are offered on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday p.m. from 12:30-3:00 p.m.

A certified director, teachers, and teaching assistants will provide an enriched environment for your child in which he or she can grow and materials with which he or she can learn, to give your child the best in preschool education.

Students attending The Ark may participate in our Before and after School Program. Call The Ark at 786-5410 to make arrangements for your child.

The teachers and students welcome visitors at any time who are interested in having their children attend The Ark. Please stop at the Secretary's office to pick up a visitor tag before going to The Ark for your visit. The Ark has high surveillance cameras throughout the building to protect the children and teachers from unwanted guests.
